The Oldest Old

| | Comments (0)
This woman was super old when she died.
122 years of super oldness.

Here's three crazy things about this old super woman:
1) She was riding a bike until she was 100!
2) She met Van Gogh!
3) She only gave up smoking because she went blind
and wanted to light her own cigarettes! (this is funny but for real, don't smoke!)

Watch this vid it is cheezy and hilarious, she was only 114 in this!

Grandson of Fluxus

In a post a few months back we told you about how Allen Ginsberg came up with the name for our foundation. Well here he is again making things lovely by speaking through Beck about himself online. Amazing!

A House Not for Mere Mortals

Arakawa_House.jpgThe house is off-limits to children, and adults are asked to sign a waiver when they enter. The main concern is the concrete floor, which rises and falls like the surface of a vast, bumpy chocolate chip cookie.

But, for Arakawa, 71, an artist who designed the house with his wife, Madeline Gins, the floor is a delight, as well as a proving ground.

As he scampered across it with youthful enthusiasm on a Friday evening in March, he compared himself to the first man to walk on the moon. “If Neil Armstrong were here, he would say, ‘This is even better!’ ”

Then Ms. Gins, 66, began holding forth about the health benefits of the house, officially called Bioscleave House (Lifespan Extending Villa). Its architecture makes people use their bodies in unexpected ways to maintain equilibrium, and that, she said, will stimulate their immune systems.

“They ought to build hospitals like this,” she said.

A reporter, who thinks they should never, ever build hospitals like this, tried to go with the flow. Like the undulating floor, Arakawa and Gins, as they are known professionally, tend to throw people off balance.

In 45 years of working together as artists, poets and architects, they have developed an arcane philosophy of life and art, a theory they call reversible destiny. Essentially, they have made it their mission — in treatises, paintings, books and now built projects like this one — to outlaw aging and its consequences.

FDF Anthem 2

Okay, it's the Forever instrumental but did you know this song is about you going to the FDF store and buying a whole bunch of pins and pennants? Crazy right?! We know.

Thanks Cam'ron!

P.S. Newly designed store coming soon! Keep your bananas peeled for it!

The Immortal

Ever wonder what the quest for Immortality will be like? According to this video game it will involve spells, hyrda, and an old man. Swap spells for science and it's not a totally unrealistic picture.

Fuck Bongos

groupchant.jpgAs if the name of this project wasn't heavy enough, Alan Ginsberg had to go back in time and generate more awesomeness around the Fuck Death Foundation.

According to Larry Keenan (photograph above):

After meeting Ginsberg for the first time, I was not in Allen's Fell St. apartment long before he rolled up the rug, sat down, and chanted mantras for around an hour. During that time Peter Orlovsky, Michael McClure, Bruce Conner and I joined in. Then the chant changed to "fuck death" probably by McClure. The irony for me was that while we were doing the new chant, my dad the friendly mortician was supporting me. He was putting me through art school and paid for my photo supplies. With this photograph, I wanted the viewer to have the feeling of what it was like to sit down and join in the chanting with the Beats.

Take a cue from one of the best chanters America produced and include Fuck Death into your daily mantra!

How exactly does this relate to the FDF? Well, it doesn't. But come on, Lynch and Blondie? We had to post. We're filing this one under Keeping It Live.

Our first, of what could very well be many screenings, was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who made it out and showed support. Enjoy!
