You know, it's awfully nice to be so healthy and all that - at least it seems to be a healthy preoccupation. But I don't know, it seems that one becomes so preoccupied with how many years, as opposed to the quality of those years and that seems out of balance.
I remember when NYC passed its no smoking laws and then its trans fat law an artist living within the city said that the city was being run like a place for a highly health conscious rich person to hang out in - that the richies could impose and this is the way they wanted to live and everybody else had to be taken along for the ride, whether they wanted to or not. And I feel the same way this artist does. Your cellphones are giving you brain cancer, your world is hopelessly permeated with PCBs and mercury, and you are bitching about a couple of cigarettes that are smoked by perhaps 6% of the population. This is ridiculous, but points to a couple of home truths. That it is a power thing and a group or a person finds that it can manipulate and impose its power on a small population, so it does so. But these same people are either a part of or afraid of the corporate conglomerates and the president who puts the killer chemicals in their water and food. And they do tons more damage than a lousy cigarette does.
The brain cancers are starting to show up in world populations, by the way - it seems you have to use them for 10-12 years before they do. It is interesting that some fairly monied people were the first to use them isn't it? My remaining question is when will it be a state sanctioned thing to be able to bitch about the cell phone companies? When will it be okay to do that?
